Don’t Be Another Social Media Spammer

Nobody wants to be dubbed as a spammer, because it sucks to be a spammer and it makes you feel bad. But the only problem is that you can still be deemed as a social media spammer even when you are not aware of it all. Social media spammer does not necessarily be a guy with a fake profile, and who is sharing and promoting content of the websites, he is supposed to promote. Nope, this is not the case anymore. Even you and I can be treated as a spammer in our social circle if we gatecrash other people’s conversion or start sharing bogus things that people hate to see and share. So, if you do not wish to get booted by your friends, here we are going to share some black and grey hat social media promotional techniques that you need to steer clear of:

Do not be Too Promotional: You can be a hotshot web designer or a rising Internet marketing superstar, but believe me this has got nothing to do with your friends. Do not badger their life to death by always promoting yourself as the best person alive with the secret knowledge. Social networking sites are for having fun and therefore, do not make yourself look bad by posting URLs that are overtly promotional in nature. People are smart these days and sometimes, when you are posting things like – “How to make big money online” with the best of intension, you still run the risk of being flagged as spammer.

Do not post those types of shit, rather post something funny and then sandwich promotional things in between. This is formally known as keeping a balance between your personal and professional life.

Do Not Post Only Your Website URL: Even when you are imposing the most dignified self-restraint as not to spam the social media sites, you start spamming without being aware of it. Sometimes, you start sharing URLs of your website when it is not absolutely needed and there are some people who do not mind asking their friends Like a page in facebook or retweet a post. But believe me, these are the signs of a social media spammer in the making. Do not indulge in these tactics. There are different ways to social engagement other than spamming and all you need to do is to explore them. If the spamming tactics continue unabated, you will just make yourself isolated from others and your social presence will take an inevitable beating.

Do Not Be Dumb: People are smart these days and that means, you should not make yourself look stupid by posting some dumb thing like this one – “Please like my post and in return I will like your post as well”. I have seen people doing injustice to their social presence by making them look bad by posting these types of silly comments. This is not going to do any good to your website other than making you look and feel bad.

Seek real People: I personally do not think it is a great idea to make friendship with people in facebook or its likes if you do not know them personally. The same goes true when you are promoting your service on social media sites and most of your friends do not look and feel natural. They rarely have any digital footprint and the worse of all, all of them seem to be fake profiles.

This is seriously going to get your social media promotional activities hurt. So, next time you accept friend request of people, make sure they have a credible social presence in different social media websites. This will make the whole process look natural even when it is not.
